A Year of Days: Day 3 - Dark & Dismal in the 'Hood

Today it has been dreary and dismal all day; not cold but with a constant drizzle that made staying out more than a few minutes very unpleasant. This photo was taken at the end of the afternoon from the end of our lane, looking west to the high forest. The 'hood in question is the neigbouring hamlet over the other side of the main road which is hidden from view here, although you can see the line it follows traced by the telegraph poles. There will be many more days like this before Spring comes...
i love this Richard - those trees really stand out

We have a saying in Maine, "If you can't take the winter you don't deserve the summer." I remind myself of that when the weather goes cold and dreary. And it was that here today so I played with old photos. Supposed to snow turning to sleet turning to freezing rain turning to rain or as the weather man calls it - wintery mix. Lets pretend tomorrow we are sitting in a bright meadow surrounded by wildflowers. Meanwhile I applaud you for finding something to photograph. This new road you are in is letting me into your world more. I like it.

Interesting panorama Richard. I think it merits the attention of your D610 and the Tamron 24-70 though.

@joansmor I don't understand - " This new road you are in..." I've been in this house 25 years - did you mean 'new mood'?

@vignouse I mean with your idea you stated about capturing more of the life around you rather then pushing the edge on the camera skills all the time. More time learning processing and bringing more of your daily life. And isn't this a site you would see somewhat daily and didn't you process it. Or did I make mistake in your meaning.

@frankhymus You're right of course, but I had slipped out to the woodstore to get more logs and the drizzle had abaited so I pulled the RX100 out of my pocket and banged off a couple of shots... and it is a Diary shot after all. And before I go - a very HNY to you and yours Frank... keep warm and dry and keep clicking.

@joansmor Ah, OK - new road = new direction - no, you've understood perfectly Joan. And I see this sight everytime I step outside my front door; it used to be blocked by 21 trees, but the field owner cut them down in October - http://365project.org/vignouse/365/2014-10-11 and http://365project.org/vignouse/365/2014-10-15

@vignouse I remember that. Glad to see you are feeling better. Even sick you have managed to get out and take pictures. Hoping for inspiration tomorrow.

My goodness, Brittany, France, is having the same type of weather as southwest Indiana. Grey days make for wonderful B& W captures.

Yes, you are having the same weather as we are in Southern Indiana! And you've made it outdoors and gotten a fantastic photo. You are an inspiration, I will strive to get a decent shot out of doors tomorrow and title it "Richard made me do this!" Well done!

Another lovely capture !! Love those trees on the left they really stand out. The down hill of the field layers the photo very well letting us see the roofs, lovely.
