OCOLOY Day 72: Mutant Trees and Mitzi

I was tied up most of today in meetings so this is a shot from my walk with Mitzi yesterday afternoon. Most of the trees around Paimpont Lake lean towards the water but this particular one leans right over to touch the water. It's a popular photo opportunity with visitors.

Another one to view on black...

This image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile.
These birch trees exercising themselves into the water make an unusual and interesting shot. Whilst Mitzi does her best pooch-mooch, the shadow across the lake and the myriad of tonal greys beyond are captivating.

Interesting lines from the trees -- it conveys the way the winds over the years have pushed them to bend in the direction we see. Mitzi gives a clear sense of scale.

Wonderful crispness and contrast and all the leaning trees make a lovely composition (as, of course, does Mitzi)

The arching tree going to water - great. Mitzi makes a great focal point.

I love the ones leaning in the water, almost as if they are drinking

The presence of Mitzi adds a lot to the shot.

I so often push the contrasts in my b&w shots, I forget that some shots benefit from a range of tones.

Lovely scene you can see why it is popular.

Maybe they're worshiping the water, since it's one if their sources of life. Love all the tones and contrasts, wonderfully captured.
