This was taken about 2 km from yesterday's picture of the four rocks and is another of those images that I couldn't resist although I couldn't say precisely what attracts me to it. Sadly, abandoned farms are an all too common sight in this area; I liked the notion that this one is being protected and guarded by the tree that dwarfs it. Shame about the notice on the barn door - it says that the property is protected by Global Security!
As always, this image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile.
Sad to see farms like this abandoned. I don't know what all was involved in the construction of this type of wall but the uneven, rather random, pattern of stones and mortar is, to me, so much more appealing than the more modern, row on row of standard brick. Still I suspect it is very labour intensive and no doubt would cost a fortune to repair or recreate.
It feels empty, and I think if you had waited a bit till the tree had leaves then it would not have been as effective. I want to look around the corner of the first building and see what is beyond.
