Every year in July Paimpont is host to a Fête de Fer - an Iron Fair - featuring amateur and professional forgers from all around Europe whose passion is working with iron using traditional methods. Sometimes though certain exhibitors introduce a modern twist... I was rather taken by this couple who have found a new way to raise the temperature of a charcoal hearth with forced air. Monsieur does the forging while Madame pedals away on the adapted bicycle to raise the temperature of the small forge attached to the bike's handlebars.
As usual, the image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile.
Interesting I remember what we called the Forge, where horses got shod, and general iron work wad carried out. Great to see traditional skills still being celebrated.
Always like to look at your work and see what people do in your part of the world, also its always drew my attention when the photo is in Black & White, Thanks
Am tickled pink that this bicycle has a bel! Seemingly a rarely seen accessory in this neck of the woods. I hope Madame uses it when the children pass by so that they see a process no longer part of a modern daily life.
I'm glad my DH hasn't seen this! He'd have me out there fanning his forge. (He does a little blacksmithing occasionally). Nice capture. Looks like a fun fair.
