OCOLOY Day 203:We're all going on a summer holiday

Well I'm not... Mrs S and I prefer autumn holidays when the crowds have gone back to work and the kids have gone back to school. I needed my passport tonight to gain entry to a civic reception - we live in unsettled times - and seeing it lying on the table prompted me to think of the more pleasant reasons for needing a passport at this time of year.

As usual, the image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile.
We found we needed our passport all the time in our recent circumnavigation of the Northern Hemisphere! Its gone back in the drawer now!

I have wondered how the vote for England to leave the European Union affects someone like you living abroad. I don't have a passport. You used to able to go to Canada with your drivers lic. haven't been there since things changed. I was actually crossing the border back into the states about the time the towers were coming down. Went back a couple of times when you just needed a birth certificate. Times change and I haven't kept up. Need to get that passport so I can go back to Quebec.

I also prefer the fall for vacation after school has started. Yes we do live
in times when one has to be careful and have identification

Nice shot...The world has become very unsettled. I hope world leaders can figure something out soon.

I much prefer the "off season" holidays as well - the last thing I need to be surrounded by is people. Ugh.

I like this as a story photo. I have got to get a passport. All I lack is the photo to send it in.

I recently lost mine and have just received my new one. Needs must complete details for emergency contacts. If you haven't done this in yours, please do. It could make a significant difference in an emergency

@joansmor The short answer Joan is... profoundly. At the moment we are here by right and benefit from health-care etc. under the EU reciprocal agreements. Once the UK leaves the EU, all that will fall away leaving us as simple immigrants with no rights or benefits... in fact with no right to even live in France. We hope that some reciprocal agreements will be renegotiated... it's possible because there are also hundreds of thousands of French living and working in the UK who will also lose all their rights. If all else fails, we can apply for French citizenship but that won't address the vital question of health-care. We have had a home here for 27 years and have lived here permanently for 15 years - this upheaval in our twilight years is most unwelcome ;-((

@vignouse I have worried about this but afraid to approach the subject.
