OCOLOY Day 322: Photo evaluation at the Photo Club
Last week my Photo Club visited the local kick-boxing club and this week each member was invited to present five unprocessed raw files for evaluation. After voting, just three of these raw images were chosen and next week each member is invited to present their own processed versions of this three for comparison and judging - it promises to be an interesting session!
Here the club PC is being used to feed the video projector - the only light is from the lap-top screen and a small battery led light reflecting off the table top. Hand-held 1/7th sec at f/2 and ISO 3200.
As usual, the image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile.
As it was taken in the dark, it begs to be viewed on black...
Thanks for the recommendation of viewing on black, it really enhances the impact of this image. What a great idea to shoot at your Photo club meeting. i wonder how they liked being the subjects!!??
Whilst VML the looks of concentration and the degrees of focus, the Hand is the beacon..the physical tool, paving the way to everything you're all looking at.
@joysabin Thank you! I don't do any manipulation in camera - I set it up at the beginning of the year and have used the same settings for every image since - so an in-camera crop is not a possibility for me. I did try reframing the shot to avoid the emergency exit light but that left me with too much uninteresting foreground so I resolved to live with it!
@randystreat We're not in the least bit competitive Kathy - I wish we were... this is just an exercise to help open people's ideas to unthought of possibilities.
Hope your experience with the photo club is better than mine have been. You could put up a photo and knew exactly what each member was going to say! Clubs, bah!
@yrhenwr The usual response to my photos is "That's been photoshopped!" - end of 'evaluation'! However I am one of four club members doing a project on birth with the local maternity hospital and that is interesting... last Friday I got to photograph a caesarian birth - for obvious reasons none of the photos from the project will appear on here. I wouldn't have had the chance to participate had I not been a club member.
