This is a wonderful capture, Richard, just what I believe photography was invented for - capturing an instant of time unhindered by the photographer's presence although paradoxically featuring camera in the foreground. A story without words, or poetry in motion although quite motionless, and monochrome does it so well.
I think you may infer from this that I really like it. Thanks for sharing!
Oh and thank you also for your kind words about my rambling seasonal retrospective.
When we were asked to join some friends, 6 of us in total, for a pre-Christmas lunch at a favoured local restaurant, that's exactly what I'd expected. The Real Deal was somewhat different. Instead of being in the restaurant, the venue had moved across the road to Village Hall...for a cast of 220 person! Although not quite Ben Hur, it was lively and great to see and so may people that we know. In between courses, I went walkabout and caught up with folk I hadn't seen for yonks. That's 3 Christmas lunches I've had in the last week. The denouement will be tomorrow, sourced, cooked and served by my best chef; none other than Richard Sayer! He can have as many smiles as he wishes. @joansmor@frankhymus@kali66@wordpixman@jasperc@summerfield@summerfield@randystreat@taffy@jgpittenger@lyndemc@tosee@fpmtngal@annied@maggiemae@seattlite@jamibann@jack4john@scotthouston
@s4sayer well My christmas lunch is getting cooked by my one of my grandparents but its only serving 9 people not 220. However on boxing day my aunt and uncle are catering for 23! this only includes 8 cousins 2 grandparents 10 uncles and aunts and my family.
@zakc
Maths aren't what they used to be! Please tell me if I've got the wrong end of the stick. It seems from what you say that 2 members of your family...may go hungry! 8 cousins, 2 grandparents and 10 aunts and/or uncles makes 20...leaving only 3 places for the 5 members of your family. Perhaps you've counted your parents in with your aunts and uncles? I hope so...I wouldn't like to think that you might be missing out! Have fun. I'm enjoying your photos. Merry Christmas to you all!
