I have have this tin for at least 40 years a cast off from my lovely dad and his many years of smoking. I am sure that I can still smell tobacco on occasions. It has always been used for my sewing odds and ends including yesterday’s button hooks and fine mother of Pearl handled crochet hooks, possibly used for lace making.
Ooh now that is a treasure trove. I can remember the smell of pipe tobacco from the tins my Grandad used. I still love it when I catch a whiff of it now, which is sadly rare in these days of super caution. What beautiful handles on these tools.
A lovely collection of treasures. We keep bits and pieces in old tobacco tins too. We also have what we call the 'Mystery Box' which is an old biscuit tin and every time we move house we put the odds and ends from drawers in it. Why did we keep those unused give away Tupperware trinkets, ha ha.
