These belonged to my Mum. Next to the her great love for the family she loved sewing and and her vast collection of thimbles. I always thought that I would find a collector to take them but after taking this shot and being overwhelmed by a great wave of nostalgia they will be staying with me for the foreseeable future.
What a great shot! On top of an amazing collection I love the diagonal lines and your composition. The sewing-machine with the scissors comes out so well and is very cute too!
thimbles! thimbles! and more thimbles! oh, i love thimbles. i used to collect them but i lost a lot of it and what remained i gave away to younger people who have longer lives to appreciate them. i'm only keeping a couple, one that belonged to my ex's mother, because no one else in their family wanted it, and one that i have had since i could remember. if i see this collection in person, you probably won't be able to talk to me coherently because i will just be examining them one by one. they are so pretty. no, if you sell them off, you will get little money and it won't be commensurate to the intrinsic value attached to them. maybe one of our family members or other relatives might take a genuine interest. i can almost feel and see the loving hands that collected them. i love the way you set this photo up. aces!
