Flowers, a candle and coffee…what joy these objects bring me. Thank you to Wendy for challenging me to take a still (with at least three objects) for this week’s Get Pushed challenge. I have a new appreciation for still life photographers after my light source disappeared behind a cloud before I could experiment with different compositions and angles.
@farmreporter Thanks for the challenge. I’ve learnt not to leave it until the last day 😂. We now have an overcast/rainy day, so I was fortunate to take this shot when the sun provided ample light. I did experiment with rearranging the items, which looked better, but by that stage the lightening was too dark and required flash. The sun also came back out briefly, but I’d…ahem, consumed the coffee…
Love your composition with this still life!
You chose an interesting angle to shoot this still life from.
And as for waiting for window light - you could set your camera on something solid, (or use a tripod if you have one) to slow your shutter speed to allow yourself to shoot in low light situations.
But - well done here!
@farmreporter Oh, thanks; I had no idea that was a thing. I’m currently just pointing and shooting but will be attending a short get-to-know-your-camera course soon.

Awesome!
You will really enjoy your course - it will open up so many more options for you.
