White River Station by yogiw

White River Station

Today started out rocky when we discovered we wore the wrong clothes to tour the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It was supposed to be in the high 70s-low 80s by the time we got to Ann Arbor so I wore a t-shirt and capris. We soon found out that wasn't the case. I bet it was in the 40s when we stood in the rain and fog trying to see Sleeping Bear Dunes from one of the overlooks. Even in its wet state I could still see why the lakeshore is a favorite. It was magnificent and a place I really want to visit again when the weather is better.

We discovered seven lighthouses today, touring till sunset. The White River Light Station was on the banks where the White River meets Lake Michigan. The weather finally cleared for a beautiful evening of blue skies filled with billowy clouds as we walked along the pier. As we continued on to Muskegon, the sky turned into shades of yellow and orange as the sun went down. It was a twelve hour day but so worth it. Lake Michigan's shore in all its glory.
