Out trying to sort out my macro lens problems. I have owned my Nikon 105mm for a couple of years, but suddenly the autofocus is playing up. When I first put the lens on the camera it will autofocus fine, and take the shot. But, if I try again, it seeks continuously and won't lock on. If I take the lens off and put it back on again. It works for one shot again. However, when I put the lens on my D7500 it focuses every time. All my other lenses work fine on the D500, so which is faulty the lens or the camera?
Can't help with the lens/camera issue, although I'd suspect the lens. My only experience of that type of thing was with a tamron zoom lens, and it was the lens in that case, as it consistently was seeking and not locking onto anything I wanted to focus on. I hope you get it worked out. This is a beautiful image!
Love the colors in this macro. As for your focus issue I can only defer to the experts. Perhaps have the camera and lens checked/cleaned professionally.
Sorry to be of little help w/the lens issue - I'm sure you've googled it - are you in Manual mode? I would think in manual you might have better luck... as to the shot... I love it - it has a very dreamy outter space kind of feel due to the variety of flower, your comp and of course, your focus.
Thanks everyone for suggestions and advice. Works fine in manual, and for real close up work, I would use manual anyway. I just find it annoying that I can’t take a quick, more distant shot, and the fact it overexposed too. I have cleaned all the contacts and taken it to a camera shop, but it seems to be an intermittent fault. Think I may just leave it on the D 7500
This is quite beautiful nonetheless, very dynamic!
