Please vote on the following finalists. Voting is open until Sunday 6th August 2023.
There were thirteen entries all which can be viewed here:

Four of the entries were from the one person so ten people entered.
I have chosen six entries from the ten.
I found it difficult to give reasons for why I chose each one because they are so different. In any case, criteria for judging abstract photography are themselves difficult to define. I tried to be methodical and to give reasons for the choices.
First of all, all of the six divided up the frame in interesting ways and directed the eye to explore the image more. All of the six finalists created a particular mood in their photographs, a sense that the photograph was about more than just the patterns. Finally each of the six was a pleasing, appealing image.
I have presented them here in no particular order:
1. L Manning
I chose this one because the bands of colour are particularly effective as are the lines. The sense of movement in the bottom half contrasts with the stillness of the top half.
2. Nada
This one has a good sense of colour and movement.
3. The darkroom
The repetition of shapes is effective as is the use of monochrome. The eye explores wondering . . .
4. Larry L
The eye explores the detail, appreciating the patterns.
5. Renee Salomon
The bands of textured patterns in this one are excellent. Again, the eye explores the patterns.
6.Northy
This one I chose for the use of negative space and light patterns. The subtle play of light and shade across the contrasting shapes is intriguing
And thanks for adding your commentary on selection. I liked learning about how you chose your finalists! Very informative.
