I took so many photos of the Paul Cummins' Wave of Poppies, at Fort Nelson, near Portsmouth, I'm all poppied out. This is the Poppies' last port of call on their tour, Wave will be going to Manchester and the Weeping Window is going back to London.
The vintage challenge inspired this edit; 100 years ago any daguerreotypes taken of poppies in Flander's Fields would have been in sepia with added colour painted by hand.
I'm sure today's is the first trip of many, I live about a mile from the fort, so will revisit- perhaps when blue skies return to the south.
For better shots than this go to @quietpurplehaze who went yesterday when it wasn't dull and raining!!
Jackie, I am impressed by, and interested in, the info you give with your shot. A shame it rained on your parade but I think bright sun could also give a problem of glare on the red.
I hadn't thought of going back but you have given me an idea! Thanks for the mention. I would like to try the in-camera red s/c on the installation.
@quietpurplehaze I used ribbet.com, it's dead easy- even I can do it in minutes (now) @carole_sandford Thank you! sure you could upload a photo from back then??
Very nicely edited. I saw these poppies when they came to London a couple of years ago. It was the most emotive visit. Just silence as so many people gazed on them and were lost in the thoughts of how each poppy represented a lost life.
