The Lodger Cat has stalked wrapping paper, pounced on bows and ribbons and thinks mince pies are human cat-nip. But put her with a bauble and a camera and she's totally haughty.
If she could be bothered to wake up, Olive would purr her heartfelt thanks for your lovely compliments on this, etsooied to an inch, portrait of her. So, it's me saying thanks for putting her on PP (purring page) so very much appreciated!
@carole_sandford the original has her on a cream carpet with white radiator behind her!! A lot of burning and a bit of dodging makes this one of the most cheated shots I've ever done!!!
@robz all cheated Rob!! Eyes dodged, background burned and it was cropped a lot!! Look what 365 and the AYWMC course have done to me!! I process with impunity now with just occasional twinges of guilt!!! @sdutoit Olive says thank you x @haskar thank you @carole_sandford me neither a year ago, now I dodge and burn with gay abandon!!!
LOL Jackie - don't give away all your hard earned secrets! And what is this guilt thing?? Seriously though, I just googled AYWMC and it looks like a good thing to do for 2020. Did you complete the full year?
@robz It's a terrific course, Rob - you'll get so much out of it. I started in April as well but found it tough to keep up with completing the homework each week so now I'm just working through at my own pace. I can't recommend it highly enough.
@4rky im now struggling with this months topic. Ive managed go keep up. That's cos I don't have a life!!! @robz do you start this month?? If you use the app I'm CameraJackie there.
Hi Jackie and 4rky- I just found this notification - sorry to be so long answering. I've signed up to start on the new course - 9th January but I won't be using the phone app - just my laptop (useless with my phone!) How does it work if you started in April - if you are working through through the units in your own time frame do you still post them online? I haven't had time to try the intro 30 photos but I guess that won't matter in the long run. I am looking forward to it! :) @30pics4jackiesdiamond@4rky
@robz Used the app initially but got too far behind and stopped posting photos. I'm very at home with the 365 community now and get the support and encouragement here that the app provides.
I have both the workbooks which are really helpful (I prefer books to reading e-mails on the PC even though the emails are really good). They are also handy to make notes in and it's easy to refer back and review what you've done or revisit a topic that was difficult.
There is the option to restart with a later group if you fall behind and you can re-do the year again if you want once finished (which I'm considering as I still haven't had the lightbulb moment yet where selecting settings becomes second nature).
But it is a really good course and feel that I am learning a lot.
And of course the most important thing is to have fun :)
Jackie @30pics4jackiesdiamond and I will be seeing each other at AYWMC meet-up in Oxford next month :)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Fair play for keeping up!! Your photos are great and I admire that you will go outside your comfort zone and try new things. And. most importantly, you always seem to have fun with your shots :)
@robz I get an email a week, and also have the workbooks which as @4rky says are very clear with more detail. I now use M mode much more and smaller apertures, and as you've noticed do much more processing!! I have a better understanding of photography but if had a choice of 365 or aywmc to drop - I'd stay here!!! I use app on my tablet btw.
@4rky@30pics4jackiesdiamond You have both mentioned the workbooks - they sound like the way to go - you can sit and have a browse and a think. How nice that you can get together - that should be such a good way to get to know each other and swap ideas. Cheers Rob
@robz there'll be a Facebook page for jan2020 start and you'll be able to find others nearby to meet up wigh if there's a aywmc walkabout group ( or knowing you, you could start one!!!) Enjoy Rob, I think @koalagardens has also signed up, but she's not near Brisbane!! Stay safe over there in east oz
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks Jackie - at the moment our area is OK - but it's so volatile that "Catastrophic Areas" are being declared in all states with different areas being hit depending on the weather. Hot and windy = fires!
I am not a cat person (allergic) but this is one gorgeous cat and card! The low key processing is beautiful with that sparkly ornament and the glowing cat eye to shine in the moody scene.
