Mars at Night

Attended a concert in the cathedral this evening in honour of Holst's 150th birthday. Holst is actually buried in the north transept of the cathedral, with a very understated tombstone.
Mars from the Planets Suite was exquisite and Elgar's Enigma Variations' Nimrod had me quite tearful - it was my Dad's favourite piece. I am truly a classical music Philistine but know what I like from top 20 of The Nation's Favs.

We sat right alongside rotating Mars by Luke Jerrams- the motor was very audible during quiet parts of the concert.

PoJT really enjoyed second shift at the shop
How wonderful to be there…

How fantastic to hear the concert where Holst is buried, I hope he enjoyed it. I find parts of the planets very moving.
