Took a new route for my afternoon walk and found a new cat! I do love the blue and green eyes but it took many attempts before I was able to get one picture of her straight on. Mostly I have rolling on the ground, turning away from me and jerking her head at the last minute. Fortunately I captured this one decent picture.
According to Wikipedia the odd-eyed coloring is caused when either the epistatic (dominant) white gene (which masks any other color genes and turns a cat completely white) or the white spotting gene (which is the gene responsible for bicolor and tuxedo cats) prevents melanin (pigment) granules from reaching one eye during development, resulting in a cat with one blue eye and one green, yellow or brown eye.
I thought the 2 eye colors indicated deafness but, once again according to Wikipedia, about 60%–70% of odd-eyed cats can hear. I think this one could hear. She just chose to ignore me.
@allie912 I stay away from all cats for good measure but the ghost white cat with two different colored eyes? Come on! That is a beautiful but spooky looking kitty...she can see into you soul! Verdict is...she is a ghost cat. lol
Sorry I haven't been around to look at your shots, been super busy :)
