We are on the way to visit our son and grand daughter in Florida. The last thing we do before we leave Richmond is stop at the grocery store for sandwiches to take along. As we finished checking out, I saw this display of pussy willows. When I was a kid we had them growing wild in our back yard. We also had a bush on our patio when we were first married, but I don't think I have ever seen them as a cut flower before. According to WIkipedia "pussy willow" is a name given to many of the smaller species of the genus Salix (willows and sallows) when their furry catkins are young in early spring. Further research shows that catkins were so named because they look like cat's tails. The name and the look certainly endear them to me.
I love Pussywillows. I was hoping to find a bush somewhere so I could get a cutting, but haven't found any around here )o: Guess I'll have to see if the garden center has them. Nice shot.
