This is the week end of the greatly anticipated 36th annual Greek Festival held at the Cathedral of Saints Constantine and Helen. It is within walking distance of my home, which is a good thing because as you can see from the crowds, it is almost impossible to get a parking space. In fact since the cathedral is located in a residential neighborhood, parking is at a premium and many local residents protect their curb with barricades!
The festival is famous for delicious food, wonderful music and dance troupes, an agora or marketplace of Greek merchandise and tours of the awe-inspiring cathedral.
A portion of each day's proceeds go to selected local charities. To me the most remarkable feature of this event is the enthusiastic participation of the entire Greek community many of whom work throughout the year to make the festival a success. It is definitely the place to be the first week end in June!

A wonderful occasion and to think you can walk to it from home is although better. I love seeing and making collages..they seem to tell a story so much better..In Toronto in the Greek section of town once a year they have a weekend starting with Friday where the street are closed off to traffic and the business people have their wares on display out their shops..lots of vendors there with BBQ where you can try their wonderful Greek cousine. we usually try to make it every year.
