Rhonda Donald came to Hooked on Books, our reading enrichment program, this afternoon to share her thoughts on writing and research. Her specialty is nonfiction geared for young readers. She talked about selecting your sources and determining their reliability. She held the children's attention and even gave the adults some good ideas for writing.
A beautiful collage ....great color and selective color on her. It's so wonderful when you can hear the author talk about and explain their books. Great job on this one!!
That sounds like you had a great afternoon! The book on the lower right immediately caught my attention as the art work looks quite similar to that on a sheet of US postage stamps a few years ago.
I love meeting authors! She looks very artsy. I have met Tomie dePaola and Louis Sacchar....almost went to meet Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket) of the Series of Unfortunate Events....but did not go. Read about how great he was in the paper after the event....wish I'd gone! Authors are my rockstars....esp. children's books authors.
