More Than a Green Thumb

In Richmond our crops are struggling with heat and drought. In Danvers, MA where Meg's good friend Cheryl lives, conditions appear to be perfect for the backyard garden. The image on the right is the same device i showed last week in Richmond http://365project.org/allie912/whatintheworld/2012-07-21 only this model is bursting with herbs and veggies ready for harvesting. Anytime they want lettuce for a salad, they just go snip, snip and gather the tenderest of leaves. The same with basil and other greens. On the left you can see how tomatoes have taken over the world. Meg and Cheryl can barely be seen, and little Zurie is standing clear so she doesn't get sucked into the jungle.
LOL ...love your collage. Especially love that capture of Addie. She looks a little apprehensive around those tomatoes. So CUTE!

Wow- it looks like there's a pumpkin vine in there too- If I tried growing a garden like that the deer would never leave my yard alone! It's bad enough keeping them off my flowers! Your friend definitely has a green thumb alright! Fun collage!

@olivetreeann Funny you should mention deer. Cheryl told us they had visited the gardens on both sides of her yard but left hers alone. She wondered how long that would last.

They certainly do look very healthy. Nice shots

She may want to look into a product called "Deer Out" if she's worried about her plants. www.DeerOut.com. All natural.

We've been lucky to have a good combination of warm sunny weather and rain. The crops are doing pretty well here, and we're getting a nice soaking rain tonight. We've been lucky not to have suffered the blistering heat and drought of the mid-west!

wow! that grows fast!!!!

Wow! Very green fingers there! They won't run short of veggies!

I wish those tomatoes were growing in my garden.

Wonderful abundance of tomatoes and lush green vines providing all those veggies. I always envy vegetable gardeners. Our critters --- armadillos, squirrels, raccoons and possum would surely get into them and dig them up.

@bruni Yes. I agree it is amazing. They have a drip irrigation system attached so it ihas constant moisture. I'm sure that makes a difference.

@bruni...it's called a tower garden by Juice Plus+....we're growing lettuces, cukes, basil & tomatoes all aeroponically & organically :)
Zurie joins me in our side garden daily to help water, weed and sneak sugar snap peas when I'm not looking :)
She calls it HER garden...and I guess it kind of is, as she help plant everything!
Now if only all those tomatoes would just turn RED!
Thx for posting Mrs. Williams xo
