“Awaken” at the VMFA is designed as an immersive exhibition that guides the audience on a pathway to enlightenment. According to Tibetan tradition, it is possible for anyone to become a Buddha, literally “ one who is awakened”. To do so, one must disengage with the world and follow a path within yourself. This exhibit takes you on such a journey.
