I was out walking last week and came upon a neighbor with a butterfly bush still in full bloom (they must water theirs) and it was swarming with these black and orange butterflies that were not monarchs.
Love the internet. Love that I can type things in and learn with the touch of a button.
Found out that my friend here is an American Lady, and a lovely one at that. We had a staredown here. She won, but only because Clara was ready to go and kept pestering me.
On the way home, a big buck ran out of the woods a block or two down from us and crossed the road. I got out my camera and stalked. He stopped in front of a gorgeous autumn tree, turned and looked right at me (I think he was smiling, too:). And then I noticed a car coming down the road and I had to put down the camera and push my kid out of the street. Then he was gone. A shot got away, but we had a lovely moment. Oh buck. One day, I'll get a good photo of you!!!
Love all the amazing things I get to see right in my neighborhood!!
A beauty of a butterfly and a fun narrative - I've has very similar experiences photo stalking deer. They won't stand still for a nice photo, I have found - sort of like my sons - lol.
You do have a wonderful neighbourhood and I have to agree... it's a wonderful time we are living in. My mind boggles to think of 50 years from now but when I look back 50 years, the changes are amazing.
What a beautiful lady you found... fav.
What a great closeup shot, Amanda. Love all the detail you captured. You have a long list of followers. I have to keep up better. FAV I saw a butterfly the other day, thought it was going to land in our front yard but did not.
