Father Marquette by amyk

Father Marquette

…a little northern Michigan vacation..we are in St. Ignace which was founded in 1671 by French Jesuits, including Fr. Marquette, arriving to convert the Native Americans to Catholicism. In the background is the sign for an iconic (and likely politically incorrect) 50’s style souvenir shop supposedly built on the site where Fr.Marquette landed.
A nice shot and interesting info thanks

If the statue is his likeness, he was interesting looking Catholic priest. I like how you composed this!

Memories of childhood vacations, I'll bet. I guess we'll have to keep those politically incorrect memories in our minds while remembering they weren't the best way to think of the people and places.

@randystreat you are so right…visited this area as a child and also brought our kids here…lots of nostalgia but it does give one pause when you realize how things were presented….
