Rainclouds over the tidal Machias River sent me inside this evening after a perfect day. I am able to still do exploring if I use my hiking sticks and watch carefully where I'm walking.I was afraid my hip would keep me from exploring in the old cemetery next door and gazing at our favorite views over the river out to the Bay.
There is a fox den now at the edge of the bluff overlooking the river. We're hoping to see mama fox and her kits cavorting about. they frolic on the lawn according to our friends in the twin house next door. They have taken really cool pictures of them with their wildlife cameras. Last evening we saw a huge porcupine in a tree bordering the cemetery, munching away on bark and leaves.
I think I may bend the rules a bit tomorrow and use a drone shot taken here by Nora and Hunter's dad. It gives you a birdseye view of where we are and the area around us in the far Down East of Maine.
We are all, Merry included, relaxed and so happy to be here. I wish my bionic hip surgery was 52 weeks ago instead of 7, but I'm still managing to have the best time.
