@happypat - I hadn't grown dahlias for years till last year when I bought 4 pot of plants in flower and put them in the border -- they flowered extremely well but I just left them in the soil -- this year they started to shoot but the slugs were damaging them so I took up the tubers - some fell apart and I planted 6 lots of tubers in in large pots and they have flowered profusely well . This year I shall get them up when the frost 1st blackens the leaves and store in a frost free place .

@beryl I know someone in NZ who has an amazing display,any of dahlias & she told me she always lifts them in winter & re plants...that is dedication for you but her garden is amazing when they are blooming.
