Was coming home from work and I saw this excavator working on What appeared to be a large pile of dirt.
This is actually a pile of snow left over from last winter. We had such a huge amount of snow last winter that this spot where they kept piling it up has not completely melted yet.
They were breaking it up in an attempt to try and get it to melt easier. So this is a first for us having this much snow in August. And to think that in a couple of months we could start to see fresh snow on the ground
My goodness- that is a huge amount of snow for August. I've only seen snow in August once- when I visited Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Colorado. Edmonton must be in a higher elevation to keep a pile that large through the summer!
Wow! That's certainly a massive amount of snow. I wonder how long it'll take them to get it melted, and I wonder why something wasn't done about it before now.
I agree with @shanne, and it's why I love 365 so much.
@summerfield I know, but I just had to take this shot when I saw it. I think it is just wrong that we still have snow left over from last winter at he end of August
@bruni Well this was one spot that they piled all the snow that was removed from the streets over the winter and it was an absolutely huge mountain of snow I wish now that I had taken a picture of how big it was then
@olivetreeann Actually the Rockies are a much higher elevation. We just had so much snow and they only had a few spots that they kept piling it up. Combine that with the cool summer we have had and this is the result
I agree with @shanne, and it's why I love 365 so much.
