Then and Now --Two Churches Become One

Well with the Jubilee celebrations over I have gone back to my then and now series. This one is two churches becoming one. Starting with the top left is the Robertson Presbyterian and then is the Wesley Methodist. The presbyterians built a new church in 1913 which is still standing and in use today as the Robertson Wesley United Church. The last photo was taken inside the church which really is beautiful with all of the woodwork and stained glass windows
Love when they preserve the history!! Beautiful.

That is really cool! Nice collage!

That's a nice piece of history! The collage tells the story well. I'm a bit surprised that the Presbyterians and Wesleyans joined hands- they have quite different theological perspectives BUT I'm glad they seemed to have worked them out and are now together in a beautiful church. It's nice to see people coming together for a change!

wow! the presbyterians, the methodist and the united, all together. yes, i like old churches, if anything says about the history of a place, just look at the old church buildings. my problem is i feel uneasy taking photos inside. you are a brave soul, my friend. and your series, while i have not commented much, is great and i want to really sit down and absorb it all to make a meaningful comment. i'm paying attention, mind you. this is a great collage, very nice and engaging!
June 6th, 2012

@bkbinthecity Thanks for replying--I'd heard of the United Church but didn't realize it was an official merger of 3 denominations. I think in the US, the United Church usually refers to the United Church of Christ, a merger of the Congregational and Evangelical & Reformed churches. Whatever their origins, I like to see different denominations working together.

@summerfield Thank you very much Summerfield. I took pictures due to the fact that we were on a tour at the time. There are times that I will not take pictures inside of a church as I do feel that at times it would be very inappropriate
