Okay sometimes I am glad we have some snow

This winter our snow arrived early. We have had snow in Edmonton this winter since Oct. 24. So needless to say I am getting a little tired of it and I am really looking forward to springtime. In the meantime we just have to put up with it and try to take advantage of it when we can.
So today we decided to go for a drive with nothing particular in mind. We found ourselves on the far southside of the city and made a stop at a Lutheran Church. On the property is the original building that housed the congregation. As well there is this old church bell that belonged to the first brick church building built on the site.
I have to admit that after receiveing a dusting of snow this over night it did make for a very nice picture.
Well we will see what tomorrow holds as it is a holiday here, Family Day has been a mid-winter holiday here since 1990
wow, what an amazing bell

Very nice perspective.

What a cute old church. I guess everyone is on holiday tomorrow as it's President's Day here. I'll be working!

Very pretty picture. Since October is a long time to have had snow on the ground... Sounds like you definitely make the best of it, though, Brian. I, too am looking froward to the spring -- but it makes me realize that in the meantime I have very little to complain about!
February 18th, 2013
wow, brian, this is a great find. and i liked the point of view you took in this shot. the cottage at the back really set it off. great job!

Very pretty! What a cute bell. I'm glad you can find the good in the snow-- especially since it's been hanging around since October! I'd be sick of it by now for sure. We haven't had that much down here in West Virginia, but I'm still really, really ready for spring.
February 18th, 2013
It makes for some nice photos!
February 18th, 2013
Nicely captured Brian, strange to see the bell set up on the ground.

February 18th, 2013

February 18th, 2013
It does make a lovely scene. We haven't had much snow here and when it's come it's also left rather quickly. So I can't complain about that. But it has been cold and I really can't wait for the warmer Spring temperatures. However we won't get them until late April or May. So, I'll have to take a tip from you and look for the photo opps in it and smile.
February 18th, 2013
Very lovely scene and a pretty bell and I like how the snow is clinging to it.
February 18th, 2013
Beautiful winter scene Love the bell in the foreground. Very little snow here. Was hoping for at least one big storm but no luck. We went to Vermont last weekend so we could get some snow.
February 18th, 2013

What a darling little church! I'm a bit weary of the snow too, and we haven't had nearly as much as you. Family Day sounds wonderful!
February 18th, 2013
Lovely picture perfect wintery scene. The church is charming and the bell is a treasure to discover. How fun to find sites like this while out driving. You did well!!
February 18th, 2013
Beautiful capture of the snow....but I can understand why you are tired of it. I'm ready to see the green grass.
February 18th, 2013

February 18th, 2013
Snow always makes beautiful pictures. Ours was gone within a few days and I can understand that for a lengthy period it would get very wearing. Keep taking the photos of it though, it does look beautiful xx

Nice find. I love the historic old buidlings. It makes me wonder how many celebrations over how many generations were held on these grounds.
