Alberta is known for many things. One of those is oil. One of the earliest discoveries took place just south of Edmonton. Here is a picture from my archive collection of the Leduc No. 1 oil well taken on this day in 1947
Love this oldie. Always enjoy the old ones that show the cars and other "up to the date" things from the era. The old oil well is a familiar sight too... in AB and soCal. My Dad helped wire the very first Signal Hill (near Long Beach) oil wells here in soCal when he arrived from Nebraska as a 18 year old. 1920. Some of them are still pumping.
I really enjoy capturing a glimpse of the old-time cars in this photo, too. You have provided a fantastic reproduction of this image! Isn't it amazing what effects energy and oil have had on all of our lives?
