It is all Relative

One more shot from the Cemetery the other day. This is the tomb stone of one of the early pioneers of Edmonton.
Richard Secord arrived in Edmonton in 1881 and took a number of different jobs before establishing a long lasting business partnership with John McDougall. How successful was this partnership. Well their families have continued it here in Edmonton even to this day.
Just in case you are wondering about the last name, yes Richard was related to the famous Laura Secord. He was a great grandnephew
Excellent history--thank you for sharing.

I lolve the tree shadow on this gravestone. You answered my immediate question about whether he was related to Laura Secord. I grew up in the area where she made her famous trek to warn the British forces about American plans in the War of 1812.

Handsome stone- I like the carving in it. Good to know the families continue as friends today. So much better than the States saga of the Hatfields and McCoys!
