A Connection to Edmonton's Past

So at the memorial service yesterday for Grandma Wicks, you can see yesterday's photo, we learned a rather interesting family connection to the history of Edmonton. It turns out that William Thomas Henry married Grandma's aunt Ada. So where does the historical connection come into play. William Thomas Henry was the Mayor of Edmonton from 1914-1917. This means that Melody's sister-in-law is the great-niece of a one time mayor of our city.
What was even more interesting was that I was able to find this article I have about Mayor Henry in my archive collection at home and share it with family members last night
What an interesting article about his, and his family, expansion from PEI across Canada to Victoria. Learning family history is always a delight!

wow! bless your heart for keeping such information. partner's mother was the keeper of the family's history and she had several shelves of binders that she kept, most in her writing as she copied them off borrowed newspapers, and a lot of newspaper clippings. i had wanted to keep them but partner said they're better off with a relative.
