So since my alphabet series is now over I thought it would be fun to do a new series called Welcome To The Neighbourhood. Even though I have lived here all my life there are a number of neighbourhoods I have not spent a lot if time in so that will change and as I discover new things I will share them with you
Today I start in Little Italy and you can meet Frank Spinelli.
In 1959 he and a friend of his opened a little corner grocery store. Five years later he took sole possession if it and today the Italian Centre is a major part of Little Italy
As well Frank and his family helped build and totally redevelop the whole neighbourhood
So today this statue of Frank playing cards sits in Giovanni Caboto Park
Oh, this will be a fun series! I love learning so much about Edmonton. I smiled at the name "Spinelli," because it is the name of one of the corpses in the hilarious play "Arsenic and Old Lace."
Looking forward to learning about your area as you discover your new things. The snow really shows this lovely statue off well. Great shot and interesting information.
Some people are very enterprising and are well rewarded for their risks. Thank for the story and the statue is beautiful and very nicely captured. Looking forward for more of these theme.
Loving this one. Very cool sculpture.
