Black & White vs Colour.....The Chateau on the River

So recently I took several pictures of the same spot in colour and then in black and white.
I am working on a project and woukd really appreciate it if you could tell me which you prefer and why.
This was taken in the garden area of the Hotel MacDonald. I will post a few of these over the next few days
I think I prefer the B&W.
June 10th, 2016
I actually like the depth of the color shot.
June 10th, 2016
I like the colour shot. It is more true to life and therefore shows a new place as it is. The black and white is good for graphic design.
June 10th, 2016
I like the warmth of the color, and I think it makes the scene seem inviting.
June 10th, 2016
The color shot brings out the warmth of color for me esp. in the arches!! Love them both
June 10th, 2016
I think I prefer the black and white picture. It makes the lights look a little less overpowering and gives the scene a fully night-scene kind of look.
June 10th, 2016
I prefer the color image because when viewed on black the golden light in the windows looks even better.
June 10th, 2016
I definitely prefer the colour shot, but the two front lights are a bit overpowering in colour.
June 10th, 2016
I like the colour version because the detail in the windows appears to be sharper.
June 10th, 2016
i like the color version too as it shows more detail through the windows
June 10th, 2016
I normally prefer b&w shots like this BUT this time, I love the warm colours in the top image.. Very nice!!
June 10th, 2016
I prefer the color version...more visible details.
June 10th, 2016
I like both
June 10th, 2016
I like both, but, prefer the color as it looks so rich & inviting...
June 10th, 2016
Colour, shows more detail
June 10th, 2016
Pretty scene! I can't choose - I like the colour version for the subtle shades, but the B&W for the shapes.
June 10th, 2016
I like the colour Brian, as I think in b&w the lights blow out some of the details. :) Great comparison shots. :)
June 10th, 2016
I'm inclined to the colour version, the B&W tends to be indistinct. Both have great atmosphere.
June 10th, 2016
I love the B&W I would play around with the black to try and get crisp dark lines, such a beautiful photo!
June 10th, 2016
Both have merit Brian, I can't decide and I love the B/W usually....fav to both!!!!
June 10th, 2016
Sometimes I just like both. Each offers a different viewing experience. Both.
June 10th, 2016
Top one, because the windows are more interesting.
June 10th, 2016
Beautiful collage. I like the comparison and I actually like both. I like the colors in the colored one and I like the details in the B&W one.
June 10th, 2016
Oh, and it's a Fav!
June 10th, 2016
I prefer the colour, the details seem to be lost in the b&w.
June 10th, 2016
The color one for sure with the color bringing the lights and the mystery of the place into my thoughts. The B&W is pretty to but not as exciting.
June 10th, 2016
I like the warmth of the colour version, nice capture
June 10th, 2016
I always prefer the colour but they are both good captures.
June 10th, 2016
In this instance, I prefer the color shot as well. I think it is the tones that work and in the B&W not enough contrast to make it as effective
June 10th, 2016
Prefer the colored one.
I think I only would use B+W if it add something to the pic. Like atmosphere , or light
June 10th, 2016
Cool picture. Congratulations on making the PP. Well deserved.
June 10th, 2016
I prefer the coloured one as i like the golden light in the windows, but both work really well.
June 10th, 2016
I think I prefer the colour picture - probably because it is quite muted. Any more colour would spoil it.
June 10th, 2016
I personally prefer the colour. It gives more feeling and there is more interest and detail. It is good to have the comparison.
June 10th, 2016
Bob
Nice comparison
June 10th, 2016
Black and white....looks spooky.....
June 10th, 2016
I like the bw I can pick out the detail better.
June 10th, 2016
Great to compare. I like the B&W.
June 10th, 2016
I am partial to the color.....
June 10th, 2016
I am going with the colour because of the light from the windows but the B/W does show up the details well.
June 11th, 2016
I am a big fan of black and white, but I do prefer the warmth of the colour version here.

black and white for me, as most architecture stands out more in monochrome .

@summerfield Thanks Vikki
June 15th, 2016
Also black and white for me. I think it does a great job of making the structure of buildings pop out.

both nice but the color calls me immediately. Super shot!
