Tonight was a whole lot of fun. Since our church is located in a residential area and the weather was quite nice we knew there would be a lot of children out with their parents.
So we set up a gazebo and we handed out candy for the children we also served hot chocolate, coffee and hot dogs. As well we had bibles on the tables for anyone who wanted one and many people took one as well. We also had mitts and hats for children. As it got later and the temperature started to cool off these were a big hit
We met many new people and saw some of the regulars we see all the time
That's a great idea. We went to a church a while back that used to do something similar- they called it "Light in the Darkness" and it seemed like the whole town would come over to the church to get treats, watch Veggietales on the lawn and hear live music, play games and let the kids jump around in the bouncy house. Sounds like your version was just as successful.
