So I am moving on from the university campus and decided to go for a walk downtown. When the new Royal Alberta Museum was built it was built on the site of the old Edmonton Post Office. To help preserve a connection to the post office they kept the stone mosaics that were a part of the facade from the post office
I agree with all the above comments - the mosaics and trees make for a great composition. I think the people and little yellow fire hydrant live this photo even more life. Fav!
What an amazing idea! So nice to see that they have kept these mosiacs for posterity. We are losing many buildings which will soon be forgotten as they are pulled down without any respect to the past.
That was a good idea because they look really nice on the facade and of course are quite artistic! Why wouldn't a museum want something like that on their building? Nice shot!
The mosaics reminds me of an art style I started seeing everywhere a couple of years ago. It drove me crazy not knowing what to call it and I remember the eureka moment I had when I found this style has a name: De Stijl. I *think* these fall into that category. Anyway, thought I'd pass that on. Nice capture :)
A nice view of the contemporary building housing the museum. I'm glad they paid homage to the original use of the site by saving the mosaics, which look very nice set up in front of the building as they are.
