On the fourth plinth at the moment in Trafalgar Square. By Heather Phillipson, a cherry, a fly and a drone atop a swirl of cream suggest, according to the blurb, both exuberance and unease - responding to Trafalgar Square as a site of celebration and protest. The drone also transmits a live feed.
Lateral flows still negative, we headed out as planned to the Dürer's Journeys exhibition at the National Gallery. Very good, especially the incredibly detailed engravings. He was an incredible artist, whose illustrations and motifs were copied by many other artists. Excerpts from his letters and notebooks brought this well-travelled Renaissance artist and businessman to life.
Treated ourselves to a rather posh lunch at Greek seafood restaurant Estiatorio Milos at the bottom of Regent Street - beautiful building with a light interior from big windows. I'd fancied oysters and this place looked interesting albeit with a rather pricey set menu and posh lunch customers to match. All delicious though: oysters and salmon tartare followed by bream and Greek puddings.
Wandered up Regent Street popping into the odd shop on the way to Oxford Circus and home to chill and read.
3 good things
1. Both of us having Wednesday as a non- working day so can do nice things.
2. Still negative, so we could go to the Dürer - it's ending on Sunday so wouldn't have got a chance to see it if we'd had to cancel. Happened with Artemisia last year where our booking was stymied by lockdown.
3. A new bookmark featuring the lovely lynx in my extras photo.
Great shot, lucky you were there on a beautiful day - what did you think of it? I wasn’t so keen but also got some interesting photos but on a very grey day - I booked Artemesia twice and never managed to get there either. Was very upset
@rensala I'm always up for a bit of quirky art. However though it makes for an interesting pic, it didn't really resonate with me. Oh yes the Artemisia exhibition, such a disappointment not to get to it.
