Is this a dying tradition? We still have our milk delivered - in glass bottles - three times a week. I went out with Betty for a walk before breakfast and there was the milk sitting on the step.
wow, does that bring back memories, when I was a young child we got milk delivered to the door, but thats been many many moons ago!!! wonderful capture and color!!!
That is so great! We don't have that here, but I have started trying to order milk delivery from local farms along with other meats and produce and that comes once a week.
I remember when the blue tits would sometimes peck through the foil for their morning pinta (and my mum being very cross!) This is a nice reminder of what was once a widespread service.
Love the shot. Our delivery stopped quite recently - having been down to 3 days for many years - we live quite far from village and no one else down our lane took it. (But milk is now considerably cheaper and keeps better!)
I kept ours going for ages but like @mejbronant says it kept going off - the dairy was keeping it for ages. Shame as it's much more Eco recycling the bottles!
My aunt and uncle in Teddington might still get delivery too. It used to wake me up when we visited. love the colors you got. plus, the bottles are recycled.
i've heard of milk delivery but never seen it in our corner of the world. we buy our milk in stores. It comes in plastic bags which we cut into strips and use to crochet sleeping mats for bedless people in haiti! i'll post a pic of one of the mats in the next week or two.
I love this shot. It's very "English" to me. We never had the milk delivered here but I can remember buying the milk in glass bottles when I was a kid. Now it comes in paper cartons.
