We spent a day in Greymouth NZ after travelling there by train. They still mine coal there and many miners have been lost in mining accidents over the years. The most recent was at the Pike River mine in 2010 when about 30 miners lost their lives. You would think that they would have improved the safety standards these days, it's so tragic. This statue was unveiled in honour of all the lost miners last year.
