Through Struggles to the Stars

RAF motto. There are two of these on the gates at the front of the college at Cranwell.
Stunning shot.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond really? Your Dad would be beside himself!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Saw that in Sunday's papers; apparently it will address the lack of recruitment. As an ex Navy colleague loudly told me “the Navy has been able to grow beards since before Nelson’s days, and we can’t recruit either !!”

Just another change, and dropping of standards that happens.

@carole_sandford I always thought “Per Ardva Ad Astra” translated to “Nothing Less Than 4 Stars”

@phil_sandford only when considering accommodation!

@carole_sandford As I was always told, “anybody can be uncomfortable”

That and “the Royal Navy navigate by stars, the Army sleep under stars and the RAF judge their hotels by stars” 🤣🤣

This may be the official motto, but from an RAF wife's point of view I think the unofficial motto would be 'If you can't take a joke you shouldn't have joined' Being an ex army wife you will probably relate to that too. Or maybe another motto would be 'All planning is flexible'

@onewing oh yes babs! Another I often heard was - if you were meant to have a wife you would have been issued with one!

@onewing I always say to Ed, but I didn't join! All that time of living there and I didn't notice the gates! Shame on me.
