A statue of this poet laureate & his dog reside in the cathedral grounds, at the back of the cathedral. I actually pass by him every day when I am at work.
Apparently one of his lesser known claims to fame, was that he spent a short while in The Victorian prison, today a museum, within in the castle walls, for none payment of his butchers bill! Iβm sure it was just a misunderstanding π
@30pics4jackiesdiamond well you live & learn. He was born in Somersby, near Grimsby (not far from the infamous Cleethorpes ππ), but I think he spent the rest of his life β down southβ , so maybe that is why it was sculpted in Guildford.
