So, we finally walked through our house front door at approximately 17.35hrs this evening! Some 36+ hours later than expected! Phil has already detailed it all so I won’t repeat what has already been said.
This is a photo of Las Palmas Marina, taken when we went for a walk to pass some time yesterday afternoon.
@wakelys could have done without it. But it was lovely until Thursday evening when the plane was found to have engine trouble. It’s not like an extra day or so of holiday, because you are now in a city in a hotel which is not your choice & is not geared to tourists, more, business etc. The hardest part was the lack of information from the tour company & the the constant change of what was happening & no appearance of a company representative! Information we did receive was in an app or email ( no thought for those that maybe don’t have a smartphone etc). The word, Abandonment, comes to mind!
The hotel was adequate, I’d describe it as more a bijou Travelodge (for your UK readers) and the staff there were fabulous. Las Palmas is not where I’d choose to go on holiday and the pilots statement of “I hope you all enjoyed your extra few days holiday” was met with the derision it deserved.
So pretty but not if you really don't want to be there! Glad you were finally able to make it home. The only time I got way-laid on a trip was a airline caused failure to meet a connecting flight but in that case they put us up in a 5 star hotel right near a shopping plaza so that even though we didn't have our luggage we could get everything we needed. It was quite the adventure. Nice shot!
