This is the sanctuary of Norwood Presbyterian Church. Today we celebrated our 125th Anniversary. They don't make them like this any more with all of the gorgeous hand carved wood and vaulted ceilings. You can't see where that same ceiling needs a lot of work or know that we normally worship now in the chapel because we can't afford to heat this sacred space.
I have been attending church here since I was five years old. When I was a child we had two services. Now there are 65 of us. But 65 folks that I can name, tell you who is related to who and what their stories are. And they know mine. We are family.
I was reinstalled today as an Elder (not a reflection on my age ) I don't know what photo will represent our 135th Anniversary. But I am confident that their will be one.
What a beautiful place of worship, such warm colours and clearly devotedly cared for ... congratulations on your position and the wonderful anniversary.
Beautiful looking church and awesome that you have been such a part of the history and family there. What a rare treasure! Congrats on 125 years and being the youngest elder ever;-).
It must be such a blessed feeling to be part of a community like yours, and so unusual for our 'modern' way of life. Congratulations on becoming an Elder !
@pammerritt Thanks Pam - I didn't show the half of it. @carolmw Thank you Carol. @wannabe Yes Catherine. I have heard this described as God's living room - and for me it is.
Looks like a beautiful space.
The church we went to when I was a child is now some one's house and it makes me a little sad that people can no longer go inside & see beautiful woodwork like this.
Cathy, beautiful capture of a church. I love pictures of church's, their is such meaning to them. Dark wood, red carpet and all the carving in the wood. Nice picture
