After a glorious Fall weekend we have another overcast day in Cincinnati. But I am going to participate in the rainbow challenge and make my own rainbows.
I love my crabapple tree. We got it as a little one that had to be staked up to grow straight and true. Tom planted it and cared for it and now it is probably 20 feet tall. I hope that I am lucky enough to catch it again this year. The day will come, in January or February, that all the local birds will descend and strip the little apples off of the tree for food. It is the strangest phenomenon but it has happened that way several years in a row. Some sort of a Birdie Diner sign goes on and calls the neighborhood for lunch.
Very beautiful...and I'm jealous because our crab apples were all ruined in the early spring heat--just like the regular apples, so I don't have any fruit on the tree this fall.
