I'm running ahead and behind right now. Doesn't make much sense to me either. I have just been way too busy. Shopping Saturday, then church and the Zoo on Sunday. Yesterday was totally a recovery day around here - laundry and muscle relaxants! And shopping - the very best kind of shopping.
I got up in church on Sunday and told my congregation that I was running short of money for toys for Baby Bear Christmas Open House. I don't know about you, but I think that a child needs a toy on Christmas as much as a warm shirt. Before I left I had $220 dollars in my hands. I got a call from a friend of mine yesterday who owns the local hardware store. One of her contractors gave her a check for $1000 - he has done this for the past three years (a big part of how we stay in operation). He refuses to be thanked. Another fellow had come by and given her $200 that he collected over the weekend from his fellow poker players. You know that old adage, "God will provide"? God does. When Tom got home last night we went shopping and filled two carts with toys for little ones - and money left for clothes and diapers.
So, yesterday's shot got uploaded this morning.
And now to explain today's. It is darn near 70 degrees in Cincinnati. I have had the furnace off for the last couple of days. This little beauty has actually bloomed on December 4th. It is getting ready to rain, so I brought it in to enjoy. One thing led to another and, still with no ornaments on the tree (too busy), I added the rose and turned on the lights!
I have to add this about toys. Noah and Owen, two little boys being raised by a single Mom who don't have a lot, went through their toys and brought me a couple of bags "for the needy kids." Another little three year old went through his and there was a big box waiting for me when I got to church last night.
A beautiful photo! I love to hear stories of people helping others. It warms my heart to know that people choose to make a difference in their community. May they be blessed beyond measure.
And oh how I love your story, Cathy. God does provide. (I remember the Christmas after my mom died--we were so fortunate to have the Salvation Army give us a bag of goodies. Such a great blessing.) At this time of year, it is wonderful to look for those service opportunities--they are everywhere if we have eyes and hearts to see!!!!
Aren't folks generous Cathy & I always find it's the people with the least who give the most. You are doing a wonderful service & may you keep reaping rewards.
What a heartwarming story! People are kind and will help out when asked. Enjoy the lights on your tree, with or without ornaments - it's cheery! Lovely shot!
It's just wonderful what you do for your community. You seem like such a giving, selfless woman. And, you're a talented photographer too! God bless you!
such a grand story, Cathy. . .now to the nutty weather we're having! A little cold normal evening tonight but mild again over the weekend? I'm off to study a "how to add snow" tutorial as it may be all we get!
