I have had one of the best days ever. I was invited to go to NKU this morning to see my son defend his Capstone Project for his Master's Degree. I've never seen anything like this before so was nervous for him. They sent us to the room that they use for this and then informed him that one of the profs was running at least a half hour late. So, more time for him to be nervous. I wanted him to let me take his picture but he has never liked it and today was no different. I wasn't about to push him. His project was the book that he is writing about the Creek Indian Wars - historical fiction. When they finally started he had three profs doing the interrogation and quite a few of the faculty there as guests - that have done a lot for him these last years. He made about a 20 minute presentation and then they questioned him for at least 40 -50 minutes. They asked us to leave the room and then called him back after about 10 - 15 minutes and gave him a perfect score! So he will finish the semester and then be awarded the degree. I am so proud of him! One of the profs that has been his mentor all along was a guest. Andy mentioned that when he got Dr Wallace he hit the lottery. Dr. Wallace said during remarks that if Andy had hit the lottery then he knew that he had hit the Power Ball as soon as he read this young man's work.
Andy knows that he will be teaching two courses fall semester and hopefully picking up tutoring this summer.
Congrats to Andy, a masters is a wonderful achievement. I have a masters in education. I'm helping my oldest son to do his uni studies, I'm immensly proud when he passes a course. I can imagine that you must be elated, such a lovely proud mom moment ;-)
Congratulations Andy! You have every reason to be so proud! And even though they grow up, you never stop being a mom (and they never stop wanting to hear your praises either- they just don't let on about it!).
That is awesome Cathy, so happy for you and congrats to your son. What an interesting study project, I would love to discuss his subject with him. Also a great portrait.
Congratulations...that all sounds a terribly exciting day and with such a fabulous outcome!!! Wish him well...I'm sure he will be a great success in all that he does!
