I've seen so much beauty today. We are in North Carolina with the dogs. My wonderful husband found four waterfalls in easy walking distance - and I left the right tripod head at home....... so this is with a monopod and not too shabby. This is called Dry Falls because there is a trail behind it. Part of Last of the Mohicans was filmed here. The love scene - so, of course I got a kiss behind the falls. It is pretty much peak color here in the mountains. It was overcast today but that's fine. Easier on the dogs.
We ran into closed National Parks today - but we went around the barrier and got to see what we wanted to see with the blessings of a ranger that was working. They were recovering a body of a hiker that had fallen earlier this week.
Talking to folks that had come quite a way for a vacation and found things closed was quite interesting. We, the people, really are upset with those that govern on both sides of the aisle.
FAV!!! Gorgeous! A portion of the Great Smokies near Gatlinburg is opening in the morning at sunrise. Wish those in Washington would listen to WE THE PEOPLE!
I grew up near there. This is near Lake Toxaway isn't it. There are a lot of waterfalls in that area because it's where the mountains really start. Mount Mitchell is a state park so it should be open and is pretty close.
Lovely shot of one of my favorite places. I live here and am very upset so many parks are closed. Most folks are just going around the barricades. Glad you got to see the falls. This area has 105 waterfalls!
there is a lot to do really
