I took this shot at Krohn Conservatory right after they had watered the display. I love red poinsettias. Tom and I are of an age that both sets of our parents are dead. We went to the cemeteries today and took red poinsettias to their graves. My mother always said I would never go so I have to do it every so often to prove her wrong. Tom's mother died in childbirth when he was about 14 giving birth to his youngest sister of 7 children. Both of our fathers died in 2001 and my mother in 2008. I don't think that you ever get to the point that you don't miss your parents. We were blessed with good ones.
Fantastic close-up and brilliant colour. I'd consider visiting my parent's graves but they are buried over 9 hours drive away. We went to their funerals but haven't been back since.
Beautiful plant -so Christmassy . Like you I was blessed with the best of parents -both are dead and in a better place together . My late Husband is also buried in buried in the same cemetery belonging to our Congregationalist Chapel up home (in Wales ) Each Christmas I go up with Poinsettias on their graves unfortunately due to health issues I have not been able to travel up there , bit my dear cousin has tended to the graves for me and placed poinsettias as usual on the graves
Gorgeous capture, love the light and the water drops. What a great story about your parents and your desire to still prove mom wrong. Ha, ha, I do that too, do things just because she would or wouldn't.
Aren't these a great Christmas flower....I had two given me in a red bucket & thankfully I seem to have just put them in a place they like on the kitchen window sill....up to now they still look perfect. Poinsettias usually die on me after a couple of weeks!!Love you crop.
A beautiful close up,Cathy!! I still miss my parents, too. My father's been gone for 20 years but I miss his sense of humour, and my mum just over 3 years.
What a beautiful shot, Cathy. I love the detail and the deep red color. It is so hard to lose parents as we get older or in our early years. I still have my Mom. I love that you put a Poinsettia on your Mom's grave.
