The Black Canyon of the Gunnison by cdonohoue

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Day two of our western trip was spent touring the Black Canyon. We both loved it more than the Grand Canyon. I think one of the reasons is that you can actually drive to the bottom and see the slow, meandering Gunnison River that cut this beauty millennia ago. It is very dark rock from the Precambrian Period - it is also awe inspiring. It was another cloudy, overcast day and the rain held off nicely until we were on our way up. The other very interesting thing is that it is open range - there were cattle everywhere - right in the middle of a very steep road.
Awe inspiring. Did you feel so small? fav! Fab framing and love the spots of blue and touches of yellow.
