It's one of those days. Anna Jane is visiting, as her lilac bush is just about in full bloom. I tell this story so often that most of you know it by now. This lilac bush was here the year that my parents bought this house, 1951, the year that I was born. There are only two things in the yard that Dad didn't cut down as he was all for low maintenance; the lilac and one rose bush. I took this shot standing on my back porch. The window by the sink is close to this bush and makes working in the kitchen almost a delight. Almost.
I lived in this house until I married David in 1970. We had various apartments and bought our house on Carter in 1976, the year that Andy was born. Tom and I lived in that house until 2001 and my Dad died. I moved back to Adams Ave. over night to take care of Mom. I started planting rose bushes for her to enjoy, but the lilac remained her favorite. I've lived in this house for almost half of my life. I have loved this lilac every one of those years, as soon as I was old enough to help cut her a bouquet. I'm going to cut her one later today and put it in the kitchen.
It's a beautiful lilac and a lovely story to go with it. My Mum still lives in the house where I was born.. I'm hoping to move nearer to her this summer as despite ? ten moves since I was 18 I still consider it 'home'. :)

Exquisite photo with great light, color, shallow DOF and most of all the subject. I miss lilacs! FAV
